I Concur
@ Leeds Cockpit

A very brief mention of I Concur. We caught this band supporting The Hold Steady. Hot out of Morley, near Leeds, they avoid following the path of other recent Leeds 'scene' breakouts (Kaisers, Pigeons, Forward Russia). They played a thirty-five minute set that suggested they might only have twenty five minutes of strong material but seriously impressed me.

Here is a band that is not afraid to play. Some bands think they have to keep singing and that the middle eight is just there for a break for the singer and to pad things out. In this band, they concentrate on playing interesting stuff in their extended vocal breaks. Epic spaces open up behind the ringing guitar and imagination comes into play. A sonic architecture is built up with palpable texture.

A mature-sounding set of grown-ups.
